BlackBerry camera cannot open problem. my fiend’s BlackBerry 8300 display the ‘Unable to Open’ problem message for the camera. The isssue was, unfortunately, not software related but hardware on BlackBerry camera. After trying some ways, I find a solution that seemed to solve the problem for the BlackBerry curve.

If you look at the BlackBerry 8300 camera lens on the back, and it does not appear to be dead center of the hole, your BlackBerry curve camera may not be completely in the socket that connects it to the circuit board of the phone. it will appear to be just a tiny bit left or right of center. If this is the case, you can try:

1/ take the battery cover off and try to gently push the camera lens down to try to re-seat it. (Be sure screen on other side is not stressed)
2/ take the phone apart, and re-seat the camera unit
3/ take it in for service.

The disassembly instructions are available if you look around the internet. Be aware, your warranty is toast as soon as you pull the first screw. It doesn’t take too long to do the repair so a competent repair shop should be able to do it fairly reasonably assuming they don’t need to replace anything.
