How to tether BlackBerry Curve 8900 as modem to laptop. you can set up your BlackBerry Curve 8900 as modem for your laptop or mac. the gateway settings differentiate for diffrent service providers like t-mobile, at&t,verizon,rogers, etc.
if your laptop is Windows XP Operating System, you can follow the way to tether BlackBerry Curve 8900 as modem. firstly you should set up Internet APN on pc. you can go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, then double-click Phone and Modem Options > In the Phone and Modem Options window, click the Modems , then select Standard Modem and click Properties, in the Standard Modem Properties window, Click the Advanced option, then in the Extra initialization commands field, type the following: +cgdcont=1,”IP”,”"(remove<>when typing in your APN)
Example for AT&T; +cgdcont=1,”IP”,”wap.cingular”
Example for T-mobile US; at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”wap.voicestream.com”
(If you do not know your Internet APN, or if you do not have an Internet APN, contact your BlackBerry Curve 8900 service provider), then Click OK. then in the Phone and Modem Options window, click OK.
For ATT/Cingular Settings
APN: wap.cingular
user name for APN: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
you can find your settings on your BlackBerry Curve 8900 - Options>Advanced Options>TCP. The APN will say, for example, wap.cingular
After setting up internet apn, you should set up dial-up networking. you can go to Start > Settings > Network Connections, Double-click New Connection Wizard, The New Connection Wizard opens > Click Next > Select the Connect to the Internet option , Click Next > Select Setup my connection manually, Click Next > Select Connect using a dial-up modem , Click Next > If the Select a Device screen appears, select the Modem - Standard Modem check box, Click Next > In the ISP Name field, type a name for your connection, Click Next > In the Phone number field, type *99# , Click Next > Indicate which users will have access to the connection ,Click Next > Enter the user name and password provided by your service provider, Click Next >Click Finish > In the Connect window, click Properties > In the Properties window, verify that Modem - Standard Modem appears beneath the Connect using heading, then click Configure > In the Modem Configuration window, clear the Enable hardware flow control check box and make sure none of the other check boxes are selected, Click OK > In the Properties window, click OK.

I have tried to configure my BlackBerry 8900 as my modem for my lap top. I am using the service of Etisalat and APN for etisalat is +cgdcont=1,”IP”,”mnet”, but when i dial i got an error “Error 734: The PPP link control protocol was terminated.” Is there any password is required? please help me….
I am looking for the setting on my Blackberry 8900 curve modem to laptop, my service provider is MTN South Africa.
